September 06, 2008 Tasting Is Believing
"Seeing Is Believing" - which means that people can only really believe what they experience personally. After today's experience at the Taka Mooncake Fair, I feel that this phrase have evolved into a whole new level call "Tasting Is Believing" as thousands of people have gathered to ask this "die die must ask" question "Excuse me, can I try this flavour ?" (which include me as well). Everyone have the same thinking at the back of their head "I don't wana spend $40 plus bucks to get a crappy box of mooncakes" which explains the reason why they wana taste every flavour they can find in every stall (i think there are around 50 stalls there). That really explains the ever congested traffic at the Taka Mooncake Fair ! Oh well, I came to realise there are 3 kinds of people at the Taka Mooncake Fair : The "Really Wana Buy" people, The "I Need Some Durian Mooncake For Desert" people and last but not least The "Food Critic" people. Lets talk about the The "Really Wana Buy" people first, they are the ones who have a goal in mind "Get my mooncake and get outta of that place" which they have a few brands in mind and once they have tasted their different selection mooncake, they will make their purchase and get the hell out of the place. I really like such people because they make the place less congested and of coz makes me less irritated . . . Next, the "I Need Some Durian Mooncake For Desert" people are the ones who just had their dinner but somehow their stomach have this little much of space for desert so they will proceed to the stalls and have a try of their durian mooncake. They will usually say this "Wahhhh ... very nice leh the durian mooncake ! " as they walk to the next stall to try out yet again their durian mooncake. Certainly a new way to save money . . . Lastly, The "Food Critic" people are the ones who will start right from the first stall and taste one of their signature mooncakes which they will tell their friends " This mooncake not bad, the skin is not too thick nor too thin but then like abit too sweet leh ... ". They will carry on with this type of comments but just phrase it in a different way and end up at the exit of the fair without buying anything which they will tell their friends the ending speech to signal the end of their mooncake tasting trip "Hey guys, lets go Zara to do some shopping !". Amazing yet true . . . Suddenly, I feel that the tourism board's slogan is indeed so suitable for us . . . Uniquely Singapore . . . S.H Peow @ 11:10 PM
